How we are programmed to see patterns in the world

Gestalt said that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This basically means that we want to perceive things as a whole and not just how they are. This video kind of shows that. It describes how things that aren’t really there are seen by different people such as the virgin Mary on the lemon slice and the face on the planet Mars. Of course, these things do not actually exist because it is not possible however we perceive things how we want to perceive them. THis pertains to cognitive psychology because it is about they way that people perceive certain things in different ways that are actually not there.
