‘Blurred Lines’ jury orders Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams to pay $7.4 million

Even in the music industry artist make the unconscious mistake of copying another artist music. In this article Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were accused of stealing Marvin Gayes 1977 hit “Got to give it up” or drawing from it for inspiration to create their hit song “Blurred Lines”. Both artist were forced to pay back millions for harm and copy infringement to Gaye family. Pharrell admits that the song has 70s feel to it, and he looked up to Marvin Gaye but he would never want to commit infringement on another artist music.  As an artist Pharrell may not have even realized that he drew inspiration from his memory of Marvin Gayes song to create “Blurred Lines”.
