This is a very interesting video on Dementia. Dementia is characterized by the progressive deterioration of thinking ability and memory as the brain becomes damaged. Those memory losses are so severe that it can interfere with one’s normal daily functioning of the brain. Less severe memory loss can be defined as mild cognitive impairment. This small village in Weesp is dedicated to people with Dementia. How many cities will you find where a village like this exists? Outsiders aren’t allowed there. I think it’s a good idea that they’ve created a society for people with dementia, but at the same time, I think people suffering from dementia should be able to coexist with normal people that do not suffer from Dementia. That way, they’ll get used to it, and be able to enjoy life more.

  1. This is very interesting and human. I believe that if some people suffering from dementia would live with people without any brain damage, would be more aware of their limits at some point and they would indeed become the outsiders and eventually feel neglected. This would happen because often the society does not completely respect people that present this kind of problems. Everyone has its own issues and lives to live but we can’t forget to embrace everyone else and help each other.
